Went with the wife last night to see their show. Pretty good for guys at their age. But I prefer the atmosphere of the club gigs of younger, "louder" bands. What's the "biggest" band you've seen so far? Anybody here ever went to a Rolling Stones concert? _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.

Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, and Metallica. All back in the mid 80's when they were cool and I wanted to be.
Also went to the *ahem* Beach Boys on a date. What a waste that one was. We also went to see David Lee Roth to cruise chicks. That one wasn't a waste. _________________

Ugh! Aerosmith! No offense meant to those who might like them but they are my most hated Rock band.
But as for the "biggest" band? I"ve seen the best! Pink Floyd twice on their final Divison Bell tour! (I am too young to have seen them before )
Other than that I've seen Rush 8 times, the Moody Blues and Yes (twice). I"ve seen Pearl Jam on 3 occassions - one of which was a triple concert with Pearl Jam, Neil Young and Soundgarden. Went to Lalapalooza once and dozens of other shows. _________________ "Ah, Blackadder. Started talking to yourself, I see."

Never been to one, but I have a nice collection of Zeppelin bootlegs. One of my favorites is opening for The Doors in Gold Creek Park for the Seattle Pop Festival in 1969. It's magic. Of course, the later concerts with Jimmy Page on 'Dazed and Confused' for 30 minutes are pretty awesome too. No track has come close to 'Stairway to Heaven.' They recorded that album in an abandoned insane asylum, or so I'm told.
Aerosmith's early material is very good, with 'Dream On' being their best track ever.
I don't know what's happened to rock music. As far as I'm concerned, if it doesn't have an electric guitar in it, it's probably crap. My kids, for now anyway, are metal heads like their dad. It's beyond cool to hear my 4 year old say "Put on 'Dirty Deeds'" when we get in the car (Bon, of course). _________________ "This is cool."

I went mainly because of the wife. But they have some good songs. There are much worse hardrock bands than Aerosmith (David Lee Roth!) .
Now I'm hoping that my favorite band Queens of the Stone will start a European tour maybe later this year. They just released a new album. Been to a Fu Manchu concert earlier this year. A small and loud gig. Without wife. _________________ Tome of Treasures - #1 resource for collectible role-playing games.

Devon & I have been to many concerts. Some of the big ones were: Lolapalooza, Crosby Stills Nash & Young(twice), Page Plant, Kiss, Paul McCartney, Ozzfest(twice), Bob Dylan, Pantera, Monsters of Rock, Ozzy(multiple), Tool, Perfect Circle, ZZ-Top, The Dead, Jethro Tull, Blues Traveler, Alice & Chains, Pearl Jam, Primus, Roger Waters(twice), Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, etc......
Lately we have slacked off, but we did attend Spamalot both here(Indianapolis) and Las Vegas.
BTW: We missed seeing Pink Floyd. I was hoping they would do a tour after they got together again last year.

I have been listening to mostly new wave music from the mid 80s recently. Not sure what has gotten into me, but it sure is nice to hear The Smiths, etc. _________________

You guys are lucky. The concerts I would want to see are all in the past and thus unaccessible--Queen, Zeppelin, AC/DC (Bon), Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Van Halen, The Doors, Ozzy, et al. There isn't a newer artist/group today that I'd care to see. I'm not into that screaming thump-thump crap that most of the kids have coming out of their cars now. I have a few pieces from the earlier days to keep in touch--Grandmaster Flash, LL Cool J, Coolio--but the bulk of that music now is so angry it's not for me. Of course, this is an angry nation.
I did have the pleasure once of a private opera performance. We were ten feet away from the singer. It blew my mind, the raw power of the human voice without any help from speakers or amps. _________________ "This is cool."

You must be getting old!
These days . . . I listen to a kinda' different sound. . . Mainly stuff like Simon & Garfunkel, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond (probably my favorite ) , Barry Manilow, Jim Croce , Counting Crows, Billy Joel , Elton John, John Denver, John Lennon, etc.
No I'm not kidding . . . nope, not even about Barry Manilow.
What can I say? I love mellow music that tells a good story. _________________ "Ah, Blackadder. Started talking to yourself, I see."

Must have forgot to add Iron Maiden. I saw them a couple of years ago at Ozzfest. Devon has actually seen them twice.
I think everybody mellows out over the years. Now days I listen to: Bob Dylan, Beck, Cake, Toots and the Maytals, and various other bands played on the local college station. Devon however, listens to Iron Maiden(they have a new album), MegaDeath, Cake, and listens to the alterative radio station.
