Caldwell is a well known fantasy and science-fiction artist. He studied at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and started a career is an indpendent
illustrator soon after. After several years of working as a commercial illustrator for ad agencies, Caldwell became getting his first cover assignments.
From 1984 until 1992, he was employed by TSR and was a member of the famous "Fab Four" TSR artist circle (Easley, Elmore, Parkinson and Caldwell).
In his time with TSR, Caldwell was an important cover artist. After he had left TSR, Caldwell started freelancing. He released some artbooks and he had his own line of trading cards.
Caldwell lives in Wisconsin with his wife Sharon. They have a daughter, Kelly. Clyde Caldwell's favorite subject matter is the portrayal, of strong, sexy female characters.
